Job Overview
DMC University Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an experienced Manager, Laboratory – Microbiology to oversee laboratory operations and provide leadership across designated laboratory sections. The successful candidate will work with medical, technical, and administrative leadership to ensure high-quality, efficient, timely, and compliant laboratory services.
This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional with expertise in laboratory management, microbiology operations, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, staff supervision, and healthcare laboratory administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage designated laboratory sections to ensure efficient and high-quality laboratory operations.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, protocols, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with medical directors, technical directors, administrative leaders, and laboratory staff.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Monitor laboratory performance and establish operational goals and performance measures.
- Assist with departmental budgeting and monitor financial performance.
- Delegate daily laboratory activities and supervise frontline management and laboratory personnel.
- Participate in recruitment, disciplinary actions, and other personnel-related decisions.
- Contribute to employee performance evaluations and professional development.
- Monitor compliance with government regulations, JCAHO and CAP accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
- Implement recommendations resulting from internal and external audits.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Provide leadership, coaching, teaching, counseling, and support to laboratory teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, a related science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree in Business, Management, or Administration is preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible laboratory supervision or leadership experience.
- Registration/certification as a technologist through ASCP, a National Certifying Agency, or an equivalent organization.
- Strong knowledge of specialty laboratory operations.
